What an incredible day for both our Junior Pennant teams in the final round matches of the season, held yesterday at Tea Tree Gully against the home side.
Our Sharp Cup team secured an impressive 3½ to 1½ victory, clinching their spot in the semifinal next week. Zac Shanks (Mount Gambier) and Blake Schroder (Mount Gambier) achieved thrilling 1-hole victories, while Jack Oxford (Victor Harbor) dominated with a stunning 5/4 win. Darcy Bald (Waikerie) showed great determination after an early setback, and Joshua Goldsworthy (Loxton) fought back from 4 down to secure a clutch halve on the 18th hole. A fantastic team effort—well done!
Meanwhile, our Division 2 team shone with a commanding 4/1 win! Victories came from Tristan Lakin-Hall (South Lakes), Olivier Seuteni (Willunga), Maicey Hughes (Berri), and Hunta Hicks (South Lakes), with Christopher Watson (South Lakes) putting up a brave fight in a narrow loss. In the reserve spot, Ellie Hughes (Berri) also delivered a strong win. Exceptional performances all around.
The Sharp Cup semifinal will take place next Sunday at The Grange—let’s cheer them on as they continue their journey.

]]> The Country Districts Junior Pennant teams were back in action this week after last week’s heat cancellation!

Sharp Cup: A stellar 4/1 victory against the previously undefeated Royal Adelaide at Blackwood! Southern Golf Group’s Jack Oxford (Victor Harbor) and Samual Carpenter (Willunga) played outstandingly.

Division 2: A close-fought contest, narrowly losing 2/3 to Royal Adelaide at Westward Ho. Big efforts from Southern Golf Group’s Sam White (Victor Harbor), Olivier Seuteni (Willunga), and Tristan Lakin-Hall (South Lakes).

Catch them this Sunday at Willunga as they take on The Vines!

The Sharp Cup and Division 2 teams took on Glenelg at the picturesque Kooyonga course on Sunday. Although the results didn’t go our way, our players gave it their all.
Sharp Cup Team:
We fell 4/1, with one game decided on the 18th hole. A couple of 3/1 down results were closer than they appear and could have gone either way.
Division 2 Team:
The scoreline was a 4½ to ½ defeat, but two matches finished on the 18th hole, making it a closer contest than it looks. Well done to all our players!

Today, our Sharp Cup and Division 2 junior teams took on The Grange at Royal Adelaide.
Both teams played brilliantly, although we narrowly missed out with 3/2 results.

The Junior Open Championships were held at Victor Harbor Golf Club on the 14th October.

17 Juniors participated in the event representing clubs from Willunga, Strathalbyn and Victor Harbor.

 

Congratulations to this year’s winners:

Junior Boy’s 2022 Champion – Cooper Barker (Strathalbyn)

Junior Girl’s 2022 Champion – Isabelle Watson (Willunga)

Encouragement Cup winners – Moira Blacket and Ben White

The event was  great success with many parents and friends attending. A sausage sizzle was provided and all participates received a club voucher. A fabulous challenging but fun event.

The Southern Golf Group wish to thank Harcourts Real Estate for sponsoring this year’s event and Victor Harbor Golf Club for hosting the event.

We also wish to acknowledge Simon Pope and Phil Tierney ( PGA ) members assisted with a  junior clinic prior to playing and Trevor Porter (SGG President) who assisted on the day.
