Today was round 3 of the Simpson Cup played at Thaxted Park, and our Southern team played against Glenelg.
Our team suffered a major setback during the week when our number 1 player, Andy Fiebig had to withdraw due to an injury concern. Hopefully Andy will be back next week, but meanwhile the loss made it that but harder for all other players because everyone needed to move up the order and face a slightly better opponent.
Tim Jenkin came into the team for his Simpson cup debut and played at number 7.
Despite the setback we managed our best result in the season so far.
Cooper Hoppo managed his first Simpson cup win and our first win of the season so big congratulations to Cooper on that performance.
Great efforts also from Elliott Willgoose and Jake Munn who returned to the team after being omitted last week following poor performances in round 1.
They both redeemed themselves well today coming away with halves. The other didn’t fair so well but none were disgraced.
Today’s effort should bring some more confidence to our team and thoughts if chalking up an overall win soon should be considered well within reach.
Next week we head over to the sacred Royal Adelaide turf with high hopes and expectations of getting the win.
