On 23 February, our Southern team faced the reigning champions, Kooyonga, at the Vines in Round 2 of the Simpson Cup. Despite several of our players experiencing a challenging start and losing early holes, they fought hard throughout the day against a formidable opposition.
The matches were tight for most of the day, with a few of our players getting off to a strong start and maintaining a competitive edge. Philip Chapman and Ben Leske put up an impressive fight, both taking their matches to the 18th hole but narrowly losing 1 down. Four other players managed to take their matches to the 16th hole, demonstrating resilience and determination.
Although we didn’t secure a win and the final score was a 7-0 defeat, there were plenty of positive signs. We’re confident that the team will achieve better results in the upcoming rounds.
Let’s continue to support our players and look forward to more exciting matches!
Southern will take on Glenelg at Thaxted Park on Sunday 2nd March.
